Let's hope the coldest days are behind us!  I would like to thank Lisa Broderick for hosting this month's business meeting and to all who attended.  And a special thanks to Tammy Vyas for rushing out to help make sure we met the two thirds minimum for our votes!!   Of which, a final vote for the Community Grants was taken and unanimously approved as follows: Milton Young Musician's Festival - $500; Milton Council on Aging - $1,000; Blue Hills Trailside Museum - $500; Milton Outdoor Classrooms - $500; Milton Food Pantry - $1,000; Milton Animal League - $500; Milton Early Childhood Alliance - $1,500; Milton Park and Recreation's Gym Buddy and Special Olympics Program - $1,000; Friends of the Milton Public Library - $1,500; and the Neponset River Watershed Association - $375.  Thank you to Sheila Varela and Eileen Walsh for all their hard work and thoughtful consideration of the grant applications.

So what's coming up...........The program committee is hosting a Makeover Night on March 16th at Nancy Broderick's house.  The program is full but there is a waiting list for possible last minute cancellations.  On March 29, the Membership Committee is hosting a new member wine and cheese at Audrey Gavin's house.   If you have just joined this year and haven't gotten to many events, plan on attending!!!  It will be a great way to connect with other members who have just recently joined. Plus you can find out how to get involved in the Road Race which is shaping up very well.   On April 6th, the Food and Wine committee is hosting a cooking demonstration with Connie Spiros.  Call early, this is always a very popular event!  And finally, on April 11th, the Book Club will be discussing The Good Earth.

AN UPDATE ON THE FASHION SHOW:  The Milton Woman's Club, in conjunction with the PM club and the Juniors, is hosting a fashion show on May 21st at the Woman's Clubhouse.   We will be coordinating theme baskets to be donated for the raffle.  If you have creative talent, please call me with your ideas for the baskets.   And then, plan on coming out with your mothers, sisters, friends or neighbors.  Let's show our support that day.  It should be a great time!   LOOK FOR MORE DETAILS IN THE NEXT NEWSLETTER!

NOMINATIONS FOR 2006-2007 ARE OPEN.  If you are interested in holding an office or if you wish to nominate someone, please contact either Martina Connelly at or Jeannine Reardon.  Please do not hesitate to get involved!

Finally, keep you eyes open for email alerts regarding our April vacation children's event and volunteer painting day at the Woman's Clubhouse.  Any and all help/skill levels accepted.

I look forward to seeing you all,

Laura

Pre-School Story Hour

Tammy Vyas

We have begun another Spring Preschool Story Hour in March.  The dates are as follows:

March 7 - April 25, 2006. The kids are already having a ball.  Tammy Vyas, Jennifer Wood and I have been the coordinators of the Preschool Story now for the past 5 years and although we have enjoyed it immeasurably, we need to pass on the baton for this coming Fall season.

Anyone that is interested in taking it on and adding their own touches will be gratefully appreciated.  We have done everything for you.  There are two years of lessons plans (Know as "Year A" and Year B").  There is no heavy lifting for the next people that take it on.  We will provide you with everything you need to know.  Our kids LOVED it and children often remark
how it is "their school."

Please consider this as an opportunity to expand the program and support the Town of Milton in giving our children and great start in their early education.

Feel Free to contact:  Elaine or Tammy.
