THE BLUEVIEW
President: Laura Conway
Dear
Friends,
Last September, I felt as
though June was a century away. Martina and Jeannine told me not to
worry, the time would fly. They were right. Here I am, the night
before the Milton Road Race and a week away from our Closing Dinner,
wondering how I got here. However, I didn't get here on my own.
There are many people who helped during the year with their
energy, support, and/or encouragement. I cannot thank you
all enough; I am truly proud of being a member of the Milton Junior
Woman's Club and I have enjoyed every minute of being the president.
As I write my last letter, I'd
like to thank Jane Busconi for welcoming us into her home for our final
Business Meeting of the year. With a small group present, we discussed
many ideas to help our new members feel more welcome at events; how to organize
the playgroups; update our newsletters; make the distribution of
information more effective; and simply listened to programming ideas for
the coming year. With our Board Positions nearly complete, the year ahead
looks to be filled with many wonderful opportunities to continue to be
involved. Our next business meeting will be in September. Please
keep an eye open, after Labor Day, for bulletins of the upcoming events.
Thanks also to our Road Race
Committee as they come down to the final hours before the 29th running of
the Milton Road Race. It is through the hard work of this committee that
allows us to so generously give back to our town in the form of community
grants and scholarships. And despite a few "bumps", with course
changes and the relocation of our events, the Road Race Committee has handled
each with the greatest composure and utmost competence. It
is sure to be a wonderful community event! And
remember, the success of the race translates directly into the success of
our community grants and scholarships for next year, so please invite your
family, friends and neighbors to attend!
Acknowledging the recent expansions
of our members' families, I would like to congratulate Brandy and Brian Purcell
on the birth of their daughter, Priya Meadow, who joins big sister, Paige - age
7 and big brother William - age 3. Congratulations also to Susan and
Chris Collins on the birth of their son, Edward Christopher, who joins big
brother, John - age 20 months. Congratulations to Lisa and Russ Broderick
on the birth of their daughter, Tessa Kathleen, who joins big brother, Quinn -
age 5 and big sister, Marin - age 2 1/2. And finally, congratulations to
Audrey and Tom Gavin on the adoption of their son, Charles Luis, who joins
big sister, Ella and big brother, Jack.
Finally, I would like to offer my
congratulations and best wishes to Eve Nightingale as the incoming president.
I hope you find the presidency as challenging and fulfilling as I did!
Yours truly,
Laura Conway

Calling
all women entrepreneurs!
The
program committee will be holding a holiday craft event in October (date to be
determined). The cost for a table will be $20.00. We are looking
for people who sell crafts i.e. handbags, jewelry, belts, flower
arrangements, clothes etc. If you have your own business or know someone
who has their own business and would be interested in participating in the
holiday craft sales event, please contact Ariane Foster or Susan

The 29th
Annual Milton 5K/10K Road Race is finally here!
The race is set for Tuesday, June 13th at 6:30pm. The
Kids Fun Run will start at 5:30pm. Please bring your friends and family for a
great evening of fun. We want to thank
you in advance to those who have volunteered to help with the Road Race. We couldnt do it without your help. Have a good summer.
The scholarship committee met on June 1st to select the recipients of the five $1000 MJWC scholarships. Laura Conway, Amy Farley, Holly Kissane, Sheila Leady, Leila Mitchell, Mary Scott and Luisa Thomas read through the 17 applications and selected winners from Fontbonne Academy, Milton Academy and Milton High School. There are many accomplished students in our town. The winners are Emma May, Elizabeth Duggan, Djevna Neptune, Jennifer Whelen, and Edward Fallon.
The Milton Shuffle is a great way to communicate to other club members about anything going on outside the club. If you know of other volunteering opportunities, fun kid activities, fairs, yard sales, or even if you need a babysitter or want to sell your bike we can put a note in the Milton Shuffle! Just send an email.
I know someone who is interested in babysitting this summer.
Her name is Kaleyza Solano and can be reached at (617) 771-2237. She is
available everyday at 1:00. She works in the intergrated preschool. She is
great with children.
