A Letter from the President

Dear Friends,

Any day now spring will be here and with spring and summer comes a busy schedule for the MJWC.  Thank you to all the members who joined us at the Member Party at the Women’s Club House.  This was well attended with many new faces.  Thank you to all members who brought wine and food.  The clubhouse was also the location for the envelope stuffing for the road race.  The letters have been mailed and responses are coming in for the 30th Annual Milton Road Race.  Everyone’s help is needed to make this event the biggest yet.  Please contact Susan Cantillon to find out where your talents can be used.

Thank you to Martina Connelly for opening her home for the wine tasting this past month.  While I was unable to make this event, I have heard only rave reviews.  Also gaining rave reviews was the joint fundraiser for the Women’s Club and the Milton Players. “Broadway Around the World” was a success for both clubs.  The unofficial numbers are not in, but it is estimated that $4000 was raised.  This amount will be shared by each of the clubs.

There are many upcoming events posted in this newsletter.  Also, you can find everything posted on our website http://www.miltonjuniorwomansclub.com and click on the calendar.  Be sure to take a look at the Shuffle posted at the end of the newsletter.  This is a place for members to disseminate pre-approved information to other members.  So, whether you have a stroller to sell, or would like to post a message about an upcoming event, please use the Shuffle section of our newsletter.

Per request of a few members, we need to remember that although the MJWC is the perfect way to reach the masses in Milton, we are an “a-political” organization and must remain so.  Our members give us their email address under the assumption that it will remain private and will not be abused.  Therefore, all email being sent via members’ email must be approved prior to any group mailing.

Finally, Congratulations to Kathy and Steve Cloonan and Theresa and Michael Jolley.  Each family brought a new baby girl into our world in March.  Also, congratulations to Annie and Steve Pratt, as they welcome a new baby boy.  Books for these new babies will be donated at the end of our calendar year and will be available at the main library branch.  The club will obtain the list of donation titles sometime this summer.  If any member notices that we have not recognized a birth in our newsletter, please let me know.  We want to ensure that all members’ babies are noted, and that all of their moms get a little help as they come home from the hospital.

Sincerely,

Eve

Old Colony Hospice Walk April 22, 2007

Many of our members have been touched by the need for Hospice.  Please consider donating to the walk to support this dedicated organization.  Your tax deductible donation can be made on line at http://www.firstgiving.com/MJWC

Old Colony Hospice, a non-profit organization, has been dedicated to preserving the dignity and quality of life for terminally ill patients since 1979. OCH assists patients in their own homes and in skill nursing facilities - in comfort and living on their own terms. This year the exceptional staff will provide highly skilled, compassionate care each day to 80-95 patients and their loved ones in 34 communities, including our own.  Funds raised help to bridge the gap between what OCH is paid and the actual costs of medications and services. Your participation and tax-deductible contribution will make a difference to so many families.
