Hello Everyone,
Happy Valentine's Day! We have a lot of love to celebrate at this time. All of us have worked so hard to give from our hearts. We have shared with the community and now it is time to reach out to the people we love. Be sure to do something nice for yourself this Thursday, 2/14. Remember February vacations starts Friday!
Speaking of February Vacation. We will be having the Toe Jams back at the Woman's Club House on Thursday, 2/21 from 3:00 - 4:00 pm. The cost is $8.00 for general admission. Infants are free. The kids had a blast last year and it was a full house! We are looking for volunteers to bake and "wrangleî the day of the show. Contact Mary Beth Grant at mbhg@comcast.net or Elaine Davis at etdavis@comcast.net for more information or advanced ticket sales.
ON TO THE BIG NEWS! "Comedy Nightî was a huge success! The room was gorgeous, the comedian was unbelievable and we raised close to $4,000! There was fabulous lighting, passed hors d'oeuvres, bar service and uncontrollable laughter. It was definitely impressive. Thanks to May Beth Grant, Amy Masferrer, Annmarie Loughnane and everyone that helped to make this so special. The husbands had a great time and didn't want it to end!
We met with met with Chief Wells on 1/29 at the Milton Police station and now are the proud sponsors of the "Cares with Bearsî Program. The founder of the program, Mr. Dick Russell, presented us with a check and thanked us for our desire to support the children of Milton. Attending from the MJWC were Community Service Committee members, Lori Humphrey's and Jane Busconi, along Margaret Carels who got the dialogue moving and Jean Lang who covered publicity for the event.
We are proud to be able to continue to nurture the "Cares with Bearsî program. We are currently in need of a graphic designer to update the materials for this project. We also are looking for a place to house the teddy bears we have in our possession. If you have a connection to a storage facility, please contact Lori Humphrey's at lorihumphreys@yahoo.com or Jane Busconi at janeberry@htberry.com so that we can keep the process moving. Thanks for this.
Community Service is also doing big things this month. Please be sure to see how you can support Cradles to Crayons, DOVE, Rosie's Place and the Milton Residents Fund.
Your generous support is undeniably appreciated.
Big Tent is blossoming! There are 92 members signed up as of this newsletter. Be sure to keep adding to your information. Elaborate on your profiles, start some discussions and join some subgroups. We hope Big Tent will be a way to strengthen our connection in our busy lives. We have gotten some great feedback so far. Committee Chairs are continuing to update their information. So be on the lookout for great things to come! Contact Betsy Crowley if you have any questions at betsy.crowley@gmail.com.
Please be sure to check out all the upcoming dates on the Newsletter and Big Tent Calendars. Remember, Road Race meets TONIGHT, 2/11, for a Letter Stuffing Party. Book Club is meeting tomorrow, 2/12. Food and Wine is will be taking us on field trip to Let's Dish in Needham on 3/11 for a meal/preparation party. There's a Beer Tasting Party on 3/29 and the Membership Committee is planning a party as well.
And just when you thought you couldn't take any more fun, here is the icing on the cake! The first "After Work Socialî will be Thursday, 2/28 in Boston. We will forward you the location shortly. We will make it for anytime after 7:00 pm. With February vacation next week, this might be a good thing to look forward to!
So spread the love, girls. Warm up the month of February with your fabulousness and be sure to come and join us along the way!
Warm wishes,
Elaine and Jennifer

Eve Nightingale - 617-696-5370 - e_nightingale@yahoo.com
Tuesday, June 10, 2008, is the Road Race, our largest fundraiser of the year. Road Race Committee selections are past due. Please respond to me directly at e_nightingale@yahoo.com and let me know if you will be assisting on race day or prior to race day. Without the success of this event, the MJWC cannot give the nearly $15,000 a year in scholarships and grant money back to the town of Milton. We need the assistance of all of our members for this event to run smoothly. For those of you that have already given me your selection, I thank you. I encourage all interested members to run in the race this year. Please keep in mind; running in the race does not qualify as volunteering for the race. If running, you will need to sign on for assisting prior to race day. Volunteering for this event is our only commitment as a member of the MJWC. It is well respected throughout the Boston area for its value and integrity. We feel fortunate that we have several experienced members on the committee. Whether it is the day of the race, or preparation leading up to the event, we will be looking to all of you to support in any way you can. Please see the attached calendar listing time frames for all tasks.
We will be sorting and stuffing envelopes on February 11th 7:00-10:00 PM at the Woman's Club House.Ý Envelope stuffing is a great opportunity to assist with the Road Race.Ý This is always a very fun and social event.Ý Do you have a business that you would like to see share the banner with the Milton Road Race?Ý There is still time!Ý We have had businesses express interest in being a Presenting Sponsor.Ý Once the specifics of Presenting Sponsor are firm, we will be able to go back to these businesses for finalization.Ý Full sponsorship includes naming rights for the 2008 race and mention of their business in every written article.Ý Beginning in January, we will be asking for members to contact sponsors from previous years.Ý We will need many members to make this personal contact efficient.Ý I would like to ask all members to look around at all people within their families and business circles.Ý Please speak to us if you have any ideas for corporate matching or corporate sponsorship.Ý There are so many businesses out there that would benefit from exposure in this exciting event.Ý The best way to get these businesses involved is through a personal connection.ÝÝ We are also looking for families/businesses to sponsor water tables and purchase mile markers.Ý It is our hope that these changes will give the sponsors more positive exposure and a bang for their buck.Ý More details will follow and each member making contact with businesses will be given a script and detailed information as to what sponsorship money will gain for the business.
All assistance is welcome and appreciated. We look forward to working with each of you!

Food and Wine is hosting a meal preparation party at Let's Dish in Needham on Tuesday, March 11th, 7-9pm. Let's Dish is a meal preparation kitchen where you pre-select entrees that you'd like, and then arrive to find all the ingredients ready for you to assemble and take home.Ý Dishes can be frozen (most fit into ziploc bags), to make your life easier when you want a healthy and nutritious meal on the fly.Ý To check out the 17 different entrees on the March menu, see www.letsdish.com.Ý You have the flexibility to omit any spices or ingredients that you don't like.Ý For vegetarians, tofu may be substituted for the meat ingredient.Ý Entrees feed 6, but we've heard that many families split the amount in half, and are able to easily feed families of 4-5 with young kids.Ý For teenagers or adults, you should plan for the entree to feed 4-6.Ý The minimum order size is 4 entrees for $96, or roughly $4 per meal (prices drop for larger orders).ÝÝAttendees will need to select their entrees and pre-pay to hold a spot, but will receive their choice of dessert for free. If you are interested and ready to commit with your credit card, RSVP to Lisa Viola at LRaskViola@comcast.net or (617)696-7103. This event is limited to 20 people.
The details on the Beer Tasting event are still being worked out, but the date is confirmed for March 29th at the Women's Clubhouse.Ý Based on the quantity of pitchers sold at comedy night, we expect this event to be popular!Ý Please save the date.
We are still looking for a Grill Night hostess, planned for Saturday, June 21. Please let a F&W committee member know if you are willing to share your patio or lawn with a few MJWC friends! We handle all of the details, to make things easy for the hostess.

Other ideas for spring are a Thayer Nursery night, which is always fun and a Manicure/Pedicure night to help us look forward to the warm weather. Hope you can join us!

Cotton Diaper Service
I used a cotton diaper service for my first born, now almost 4, and am hoping to find a few interested Milton soon-to-be moms to bring that same service to Milton before my twins are born this spring. If you have considered using cotton diapers for your new one's little bottom or for environmental reasons, but don't think you're up for cleaning all those diapers yourself, here's Donna's website.http://www.changinghabits.com/
You can contact Donna directly with any questions, and of course if you're interested in starting out with Changing Habits.
