THE BLUEVIEW
President: Eve
Nightingale
Dear
Friends,
Our member year is coming to a
close. This year has given each of us
the opportunity to meet new people and socialize, as well as volunteer. We have completed numerous collection drives
for various efforts and our grants and scholarships have been handed out. There are many people who helped during the
year with their energy, support, and/or encouragement, especially my
Co-Vice Presidents, Elaine Davis and Jennifer Wood. I cannot thank you
all enough; I am truly proud of being a member of the Milton Junior
Woman's Club and I have enjoyed every minute of being the president.
A special thank you is owed to
Janet and Gerry Lorden for opening their home to the MJWC this past
weekend. Grill Night was a huge
success. Thank you also, to the members
of Food and Wine, who poured their heart and souls into the event. Their hard work and organization made the
event very enjoyable for all who attended.
As I write my last letter, I'd
like to thank Amy Farley for welcoming us into her home for our final
Business Meeting of the year. With a small group present, we discussed
ideas for the upcoming year. Laura
Conway is firming up the final details of our 2007-2008 Board. The year ahead looks to be filled with many
wonderful opportunities to continue to be involved. Our next business
meeting will be in September. Please keep an eye open, after Labor Day,
for bulletins of the upcoming events.
Thanks also to our Road Race
Committee as they come down to the final hours before the 30th running of
the Milton Road Race. It is through the hard work of this committee that
allows us to so generously give back to our town in the form of community
grants and scholarships. Tonight’s event looks to be the largest
yet. From food to entertainment, there
will be something for everyone. I hope
that each of you is able to take your families to the activities planned. And remember, the success of the race translates
directly into the success of our community grants and scholarships for next
year, so please invite your family, friends and neighbors to attend!
Acknowledging the recent expansions of our members' families, I would like to congratulate Kristen O’Hara’s family as they welcome their new baby boy, Reade. Liz Nolan’s family welcomes their new baby boy, Christopher. And, Jen McNulty’s family welcomes their new baby girl, Rebecca. The club keeps track of all member babies born within the year. On the behalf of all babies born to members this past year we will be buying books in the babies’ names for the Milton Library Main Branch. The bookplates will be affixed with each child’s name. This is a fun program to commemorate the babies born to members. Please contact Courtney Affanatto at caffanato@comcast.net if you hear of any new babies.
I hope that you all have a healthy
and exciting summer. We will reconvene
in September. Until then, the closing
dinner is scheduled for June 19th at La Scala Restaurant. Dinner is $30 and set for
Thank you all for making my job
this past year so enjoyable.
Fondly,
Eve Nightingale

The Milton Shuffle is a great way to communicate to other
club members about anything going on outside the club. If you know of other volunteering
opportunities, fun kid activities, fairs, yard sales, or even if you need a
babysitter or want to sell your bike – we can put a note in the Milton
Shuffle! Just send an email to Jane Berry.
