
‘Stinkbug Bugaloo’ Buzzes to Town July 17
Milton Public Library will host Minstrel Storyteller Mary Jo
Maichack in a family program for children ages 4 and older on Monday, July 17,
at the library, 476 Canton Ave.“Stinkbug Bugaloo” is a family show celebrating
insects in folklore, jokes, tunes, masked story theater performed by audience
volunteers, and a stinkbug dance. The program connects with the Massachusetts
summer reading club theme, “What’s Buzzing @ Your Library?”
“Stinkbug Bugaloo” is a one-person variety show co-created by the audience in
celebration of bugs, to inspire summer reading. The program entertains all ages
with a mix of songs and folktales, led by Ms. Maichack, and includes audience
participants in a masked play of an Anansi story, a buggy sing along, and a
poem. It is designed to be fun for ages 4 through adult and is about an hour
long.
Ms. Maichack is a national award-winning singer, storyteller and
multi-instrumentalist who has performed some 3,000 shows in libraries, schools,
and festivals since 1989. She is noted for friendliness, energy, lots of variety,
